Mmmm, the lovely warm tones of winter are here again, Boston Red, Violet Storm, Autumn Sunset, Deep Teal, Vanilla Suede and Dove Grey.  The colours are as beautiful as their names and have been such a pleasure to work with.

Colour blocking is a big look for the season but of course, in the true KOOKY way, we’ve broken these strong colours up with plenty of vertical movement in the form of panelling, darting and fabric manipulation in order to create that important slim line.

The fully fashioned knitwear collection is always one of my favourites because it’s all natural and so comfy to wear.  The cotton, linen and merino yarns are dyed in our own colours so this collection ties in beautifully with all the separates.  A must have staple for every wardrobe is the “Cotton ¾ Tunic” (click here).  It can be used to layer under anything including your shorter length tunics. 

Other special pieces include the “Cuddle-n-Cotton Jersey” also knitted from extremely soft cotton with a wide cable neckline.  You can pull it down over your bottom or scrunch it up onto your hips.  Unusual draped, layered and chunky necklines are another big look for the season. The cotton/linen “Loxley Coat” with its leather tape and buckle detail and the Merino “Lexie Jerkin” (click here) trimmed in suedette with a 3 way button up lapel both fall perfectly into this category.

This season is all about easy, mix and match separates with combinations to suit everyone. Of note is our new “Neoclassic Jean” (click here).  We’ve still got our classic “Stretch Denim Jean” but we thought we’d try a new take on this cut.  Like the “Stretch Denim Jean” they sit nice and high on the waist but instead of a waist band it has a flat faced waist.  These are great because they don’t add any bulk and are easily altered with a dart if necessary.  They have a hip seam that gives a low cut look which is flattering but still offering the security and comfort of a high waisted pant. The denim is light weight with a bit of stretch for comfort.

I now want to turn to what I call ‘lightweight cover-ups’.  These are pieces that are obviously light in weight but always cover the bottom and slip over just about anything to smarten up a simple outfit and, most importantly, slim the body down by adding vertical movement to an outfit.  We always do a lovely range of these but this season I particularly love the “Shimmy-Chiffon Jerkin” (click here) which does the job to perfection.  Cut from chiffon with a subtle crush effect (so no ironing!), it has a gorgeous high standing collar threaded with a long scarf that can either hang down the body or be tied loosely or snug around the neck.
